M & J London
M & J London are the producers of some of my favourite Vegan friendly ethical candles. The scents are all amazing and my personal favourite that I was kindly gifted recently is the;
It has Notes of Amber, Cedar & Rosewood.
Made with Soya Wax, they are cruelty free and sustainable. Along with Recycled glass and environmental packaging these really are a winner!
I really love the smell of this one, it is really warming, especially for this time of year it is really homely and inviting after a long days work, or walks out in the cold. It fills our house with the smell of autumn which is ever so nice!
The size is amazing also! I have this in the Large and I can tell it is going to last us a long old time and keep our house smelling delicious.
The candles come in two sizes, Large and Small.
Large Candles burn for 60 hours
and Small candles burn for 30 hours
The packaging is responsibly made. The boxes are printed with vegetable based ink and covered with water based coatings… can’t get more ethical than that! Everything is also UK based so making them Eco too!
The packaging was a little scratched by the time it got to me which was a tad shame however nothing so obvious it looked bad. Just some scratches to the box and on the sticker inside which I am happy to live with. It does have an air of luxury about it. The glass jars are simple, practical and reusable. The logo is a lost vintage and intricate which is very stylish and goes with most decor. The candles themselves are white or an off white colour which again blends nicely and could be used with any household scheme you may have running. The scent is amazing and strong but not to overpowering and the flame lets off no dark smoke, no lead, no marks on your walls!
The scents are made up of essential oils and aroma compounds. The wick is also lead free made from linen and cotton, so the only smell we have is of the beautiful fragrance inside. Being a vegan it is also always important to me that there is no animal derived ingredients such as the common beeswax candles. These however are 100% soya wax. The glass holding the wax is made from 100% recycled glass and it is encouraged that it is cleaned out and reused after burning.. which I will certainly be doing.. may be a new home for bits and bobs, clips and brushes!
M&J are also very kind hearted and donate some of their proceeds to charity. As you can imagine going the extra mile to use fully recycled products and 100% cruelty free products can at times be more costly, however I find it is great that they are still able to give back to local charities. There current scheme sees that 50p profit of a small candle and £1 profit on a large candle goes to a UK based women’s charity. Currently the proceeds are donated to NIA; Read a little more about them here;
I would recommend M&J 100% as they have gone above and beyond any other candle brand that I have come across to promote a meaningful message whilst providing a luxury product!
